“ESPLANADE” ? Kothy dharmatala new market ? ( where dharmatala new market ?) so, this is one of the famous places in Kolkata where you will get a wide range of delicious food starting from piyaji ( onion pakora) ending to dosa , biriyani .

Esplanade is an amazing Bengali food experience in Bangalore . The taste is simply brilliant no matter what dish you ordered.The restaurant serves the most exclusive gastronomic delights , a vast range of bengali dishes starting from bhetki paturi to baked sandesh …

The restaurant is located at 201 double road indiranagar Bangalore easily locatable on gps , and its serving a vast range of calcutta cuisine.

The opening stair case will take you to the restaurant where you will get to feel like you have reached some 60’s north kolkata house , were seating arrangements is spread with old 60’s wooden tables and sofa set chairs . Really got an eye-catching ambience , the colour of the walls, and its spreaded with the pictures of feluda,gupi bagha really a nostalgic one.



One of the most interesting thing is all the stuffs are also bengali.
A pure Bangla feeling.

Gondhoraj chicken fry– A finger chicken starter where you will get a flavour gondhoraj .Gondhoraj Chicken is an extremely flavourful. The tender succulent chicken pieces are cooked in light & well balanced oil, flavoured with fragrant none other than Gondhoraj Lebu (King Lime) & Lebu Pata ( Lime Leaf).

Fish orly – The fish orly is a delightfully crunchy batter fried fish which we actually called in bengali “fish batter fry” . The term orly is actually a french word to describe a preparation method usually used with fish fillets. This is one of the famous starter among Bengalis .The fish is usually a white fish such as sole, perch or cod. The fillets are skinned, battered and deep fried. One bite in the the crunchy outer layer, revealed the soft juicy fish inside, taking you straight to food heaven. Just awesome.

Luchi – who doesn’t aware of this one we Bengali say luchi hindi people say puri ….but on our side a luchi will always be a luchi “gorom gorom fulko luchi ” .

Kasha mangsho -one of the most popular mutton curry of bengal. Bengali Mutton Curry or as we lovingly call it Mangshor Jhol is an age-old delicacy where mutton pieces cooked in a spicy, hot curry. This curry should be thinner in consistency (the Bengali word jhol means a soup-like curry). It goes really well with one full plate of steaming hot rice . A timeless dish it’s an all-time favourite in every Bengali.

Bhaja munger daal – A gorgeous-looking traditional Bengali vegetarian dal with roasted yellow mung lentils . It is actually most beloved of all daals . The roasted yellow letinls cooked with green peas and ghee makes an incredible taste. ‘Daal chara konodin main khaoa puron hoina’ ( without having letinls our main course can’t be complete).

Jhuree aloo vaja – daal er sathe kichu to chai , side e aloo vaja na thakle ki khaoa hoi ( besides lentils we must need one fry i.e. crispy potato fry without that it is incomplete) . Jhuree Aloo Bhaja is a Bengali style potato fry and also quite popular among everyone . It really goes well with rice & daal .

Daab chingri – Daab Chingri, which is known as Prawns cooked in coconut shell. It’s a popular Bengali dish made with fresh prawns that taste amazing since they are cooked in coconut paste, mustard and turmeric. And it served in a coconut .


Bhetki paturi – This is one of the signature Bengali fish dish where bhetki maach / Asian sea bass fish along with the paste of mustard wrapped in Banana leaf and cooked it and the result is a juicy succulent peice just goes melting in mouth .

After having all these delicious food ebar misti mukh hoe jaak ( kuch mu mitha ho jae ) . Now coming up most awaited dessert of Kolkata

Misti doi – Mishti Doi is a traditional Bengali dessert of delicately sweetened curd. mishti doi is a classic bengali sweet made with milk, curd culture and jaggery or sugar. the jaggery used traditionally to make mishti doi is palm jaggery. in bengali language ‘mishti’ means sweet and ‘doi’ is curd. in hindi language mishti doi can be called as meetha dahi.

Baked sandesh – Sandesh is a sweet that is made in the West Bengal . Baked Sandesh is really awesome in taste it just melts in the mouth. It is served in a earthen, terracotta, or clay pot, which is said to absorb excessive moisture, giving baked sandesh its typical dense, thick but soft and creamy texture.

Overall it was really an amazing experience . A good proper hygenic restaurant and also a great hospitality management . Stuffs are very well behaved and friendly .
Food quantity and quality is really good without any doubt . Prices are little higher but overall is good .
